The Kanha National Park extends over an impressive area of 940 km², encompassing parts of the Manada and Balaghat districts. It is located between the longitudes of 80°-26′-10″ to 81°-4′-40″ and latitudes of 22°-1°-5″ to 22°-27′-48″. The park comprises two distinctive sections - the core zones and the buffer zones. The core zone, known as Kanha National Park, covers an area of 940 km², while the multiple-use area expands to approximately 1009 sq km, bringing the total coverage to 1,949 sq km.
Furthermore, adjacent to the Kanha Tiger Reserve, there is the Phen Wildlife Sanctuary, scattered across an area of 110.740 sq km. The park's geographic coordinates lie between 22° 7′ to 22° 27′ N and 80° 26′ to 81° 3′ E, situated about 160 kilometers (100 miles) southeast of Jabalpur.
The boundary of the tiger reserve even touches the city of Raipur in Chattisgarh. As India's second national park, the Kanha Tiger Reserve stands as a symbol of pride, nestled amidst the dense forests between the Vindhaya and Satpura ranges, offering an abundance of diverse flora and fauna.

The nearest airport to Kanha National Park is Jabalpur Airport or Raipur Airport, located approximately 180 kilometers away. From Jabalpur/ Raipur Airport, you can hire a taxi or use a pre-arranged transfer service to reach Kanha.
By Train:
The nearest major railway station to Kanha is Gondia Junction, located around 145 kilometers away. Another option is Jabalpur or Raipur Railway Station, which is approximately 175 kilometers from the park. From either of these railway stations, you can hire a taxi or take a bus to reach Kanha National Park.
By Road:
Kanha National Park is well-connected by road, and there are regular bus services from major cities and towns in Madhya Pradesh and neighboring states. If you prefer a more private and comfortable journey, you can also hire a taxi or opt for a self-drive option.
